
Our employees are dedicated to fostering healthy communities in the cities where they live and work. Proving that they are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty, MuniMae employees have taken part in a wide range of volunteer efforts and projects. These activities not only present opportunities to act on our statements of service to the community, but also to bond with co-workers and have some fun!
Recent events in which our employees have participated:
- Rebuilding Together —MuniMae has sponsored Rebuilding Together for the past 5 years. Employees in both the Baltimore and San Francisco offices participated in this program, which seeks to preserve and revitalize houses and communities, assuring that low-income homeowners, from the elderly and disabled to families with children, live in warmth, safety, and independence. In Baltimore in 2005, an entire playground in the Reservoir Hill neighborhood was cleaned up and weeded, while employees in San Francisco made renovations to the home of a senior citizen.
- Holiday volunteer events and donations —In Baltimore, during the Thanksgiving holiday, non-perishable food, toiletries and cash contributions were collected for the "Helping Up Mission", a nonprofit agency which helps men and women battling homelessness, chemical dependency, poverty and serious life crises. In addition, during the Christmas season, toys and gifts were collected and delivered to the Christ Church Shelter. In Tampa, approximately $6500-worth of gifts and toys were delivered to Joshua House, an organization that provides emergency shelter care and residential group care services for abused, abandoned, and neglected children. In Boston, 28 employees went to the Boston Food Bank and sorted donated food for distribution to local food banks. Each volunteer made 335 meals possible for distribution.
- Back-to-school backpack distribution— Last Fall the Baltimore office provided backpacks filled with school supplies to 45 children at Paul's Place located in Southwest Baltimore which provides 12 services and programs to the Washington/Village community.
- Bridge Builders 2006 – This Spring, the Tampa office volunteered on behalf of Metropolitan Ministries for their largest event of the season. Broadway Stars graced the stage at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center to raise awareness and $1,000,0000 for hungry and homeless people in the Tampa Bay Area. 21 employees worked as ushers, ticket takers and food bag assembly to help make this event a success.
